Do you know that the best way to dry bamboo toothbrushes is in an upright position? This toothbrush holder is designed specifically to fit an adult or kid Natboo brush! Wipe dry the handle after using, shake away the bristles/toothbrush head to rid of water as much as possible, then dry it vertically in the holder. Voila!

NATBOO TOOTHBRUSH’s round and smooth handle is made of Mao bamboo, and is fully compostable. The bristles are BPA-free nylon, and infused with activated bamboo charcoal- which has whitening and anti-bacterial properties. Pull out the bristles before you compost, but don’t throw them away into the landfill. You can recycle them! The paint on the bottom of the brush is certified eco-paint. You can be assured that once you are done with your toothbrush, it will not pile up in a landfill, or break into smaller pieces, contaminating our food and water like plastic. You can place the handle (sans bristles) in your home compost turner as a bulking agent, or throw it away with your compost or recycle trash bin.

The toothbrush handle is made of Mao bamboo, a rapidly renewable* resource. Bamboo grows extremely fast with minimal care and without replanting. It is the fastest growing plant in the world and can grow 1-to-4 inches in a day and regrows quickly after being cut down, making it the number 1 renewable resource. Since the plant’s health is improved by cutting, bamboo can be re-harvested every three years without any harmful effects on the environment.

*(Bamboo earns the moniker of a “rapidly renewable” resource as opposed to a plain old “renewable” resource because it grows extremely fast, especially when compared to wood.)

Bamboo has a unique antibacterial quality due to an antimicrobial bio-agent called “bamboo kun” which is found naturally in its fiber. This kun makes bamboo a naturally anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and odor resistant element. Bamboo also has a smaller carbon footprint in its harvesting and production process (compared to hardwood).

When compared to plastic toothbrushes, there’s really no question that bamboo is better for the environment. Plastic production releases toxins into the environment, it also doesn’t biodegrade, instead it will break down into increasingly smaller pieces before eventually making it’s way into our food and water sources.

The best way to ensure that your brush is long lasting is to keep it clean and dry. After you brush, rinse thoroughly with warm water, make sure there’s no leftover toothpaste on the base of the bristles on the toothbrush head. Shake away all water residue vigorously, and if possible- wipe dry the handle. Let it dry naturally in an upright position. DO NOT place it in a cup or anything cup-like; without proper drainage conditions may exist for mold to grow (not just for bamboo toothbrushes, but for plastic and silicone ones as well).
